01 Travel through Time

Visit three of Cuba’s most historical cities, considered by UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Learn about their people and rich traditions. Visit Cienfuegos, “The Pearl of the South”, located in the south of central Cuba. Get to know its culture and musical origins, its architecture and magical city. Discover Trinidad, known as “The Villa of the Holy Trinity”, the third villa founded by the Spanish Crown in Cuba, in early 1514. It was founded by Diego Velázquez and evolved rapidly becoming one of the most prosperous villas of the largest island of the Antilles. Trinidad is the Cuban city that preserves with fidelity the imprint of its colonial past. Walking through the streets and squares of the historic center can be a journey back in time. Visit the Villa Sancti Spíritus, the fourth villa founded in 1514. You will admire its church built in 1680 and the bridge over the river Yayabo, built in 1825, relevant symbols of the time. Explore Topes de Collantes, a Magnificent Natural Spectacle. Finally, you will travel to Camaguey city, founded in 1515, called Santa Maria del Puerto del Príncipe, also known as Port-au-Prince. It was the sixth Villa founded during the Spanish colonization of the island.
You will see how the Cubans are trying to create new private businesses in the island and understand how the Cuban dual currency works. All tours are in private.

Flight to Cienfuegos.

  • Flight to Cienfuegos Airport.
  • Arrival at Jaime Gonzalez International Airport in Cienfuegos.
  • Pick up at the Airport and transfer to the private house.
  • Welcome dinner at a private restaurant located in the vicinity of the Caribbean Sea, where you will learn about this new form of private business in Cuba.
  • Enjoy a brief panoramic night tour and free time to walk around and have the opportunity to interact and talk to the people in the city.

Cienfuegos City Tour.

Cienfuegos has one of the best bays in the world, due to its size, depth and security. This city is considered an architectural jewel of great French influence, with remarkable heritage buildings. It exhibits a preserved Historic Urban Center declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2005.

  • After breakfast, you will enjoy a city tour of the center of Cienfuegos and you will learn about the architecture and history of the most important sites.
  • After lunch, transfer to Trinidad.
  • Accommodation at a private house.
  • Free night.

Trinidad City Tour

Trinidad is a Colonial Relic and together with Valley de los Ingenios was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The unique colonial architecture, the famous museums that reflect the splendor of that time, cobblestone streets, colorful houses and friendly people make of Trinidad “A Must”.

  • After breakfast, you will go on a city tour, where you will appreciate the splendorous architecture of centuries ago. You will learn about that period in Cuba visiting some museums, such as the Romantic Museum, the Historic Municipal Museum and San Francisco de Asis Convent.
  • Lunch on your own at a private restaurant, where you will learn about the development of private business in Cuba by talking with the owner and the staff of the restaurant.
  • After lunch, you will visit the potters of the town, you will learn from them about their incredible work and the daily difficulties for their cultural and artistic realization.
  • Free night.

Trinidad – Visit to Salto Caburní or to Vegas Grandes.

You can do the Salto del Caburní visit any day of the week except Tuesdays and Fridays. On Tuesdays and Fridays, you can visit Vegas Grandes. Tour includes: Guide service, park entrance and lunch.
On the trip, up to Topes de Collantes, stops are made at the viewpoint and at the Casa del Café and then continue towards the Caburní or Vegas Grandes. The Vegas Grandes Trail is the easiest, the roundtrip lasts approximately 2 hours, while the Salto del Caburní trail is more complex and lasts approximately 3 hours and a half. At the place of destination, you will have 1 hour of free time to enjoy nature and meet the local farmers, then have lunch at the restaurant Mi Retiro. Return to Trinidad. (Total: appx, 6 hours)
Note: Proper clothing and shoes are recommended. You will walk on dirt paths with rocks.

Trinidad – Valley de los Ingenios / Sancti Spiritus Villa.

  • After breakfast, you will visit Valley de los Ingenios, located about 20 miles from Trinidad.

    Valley de los Ingenios, located in the Province of Sancti Spíritus in central Cuba, is an extensive triangular plain that covers about 100 square miles and includes in its interior the valleys of San Luis, Agabama-Méyer and Santa Rosa. Together with the city of Trinidad, it was recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Fostering one of the largest sugar regions of the time, the Creole aristocracy, which was dedicated to the sugar industry on a large scale, was settled in the valley from the 17th to the 19th century.

  • After, you will continue the trip to Sancti Spiritus (1 hour).

    The provincial capital is the city of Sancti Spiritus or “Holy Spirit”, which was founded in 1514 near the center of the island and served as a starting point for the conquest of Yucatan. The city preserves a historical center with buildings from the XVIII and XIX centuries, standing out la Parroquia Mayor, built in 1680 and the bridge over the Yayabo River, National Monument. The most important economic activities of Sancti Spiritus are agriculture, fishing, mining, cattle raising and sugar and oil refineries.

  • Sancti Spiritus City Tour.
  • Lunch at “El Meson de la Plaza” Restaurant.
  • After lunch, you will continue your trip towards the city of Camaguey, 120 miles (appx. 3 hours).
  • After arrival, check in at the house
  • Night, Dinner at a private restaurant, where you will learn about this new form of private business in Cuba.
  • Take a brief panoramic night tour and free time to walk around and have the opportunity to interact and talk to the people in the city.

Camaguey City Tour.

  • After breakfast, you will visit the birth house and Museum of Nicolas Guillen and the Museum Ignacio Agramonte.
  • Lunch at a private restaurant in Camaguey.

The Historic Urban Center of Camagüey has exceptional heritage values that made it worthy to be included in UNESCO’s World Heritage List. As one of the first seven towns founded by the Spanish in Cuba in 1528, Camagüey plays a prominent role as urban center of the interior territory dedicated to the cattle breeding and the sugar industry. The town was developed on the basis of an irregular urban model containing a system of squares, alleys and winding streets very rare, common among Latin American villas located on flat lands. All the houses around the square maintain the original colonial style. One of the greatest attraction is the sculptural set of the artist Martha Jiménez, who recreated the life and customs of the locals in original size.

  • After lunch you will visit the center of the city where you will learn about its history, culture and Cuban traditions.
  • Free night.

Return trip to US.

  • After breakfast, visit to the Art & Craft Market.
  • Lunch on your own.
  • Transfer to Camaguey Airport.
  • Flight to United State.
