  • Lunch at a private restaurant in Camaguey.

The Historic Urban Center of Camagüey has exceptional heritage values that made it worthy to be included in UNESCO’s World Heritage List. As one of the first seven towns founded by the Spanish in Cuba in 1528, Camagüey plays a prominent role as urban center of the interior territory dedicated to the cattle breeding and the sugar industry. The town was developed on the basis of an irregular urban model containing a system of squares, alleys and winding streets very rare, common among Latin American villas located on flat lands. All the houses around the square maintain the original colonial style. One of the greatest attraction is the sculptural set of the artist Martha Jiménez, who recreated the life and customs of the locals in original size.
