Flight to Havana

  • Flight US – Havana. Arrival at Jose Marti International Airport in Havana.
  • Welcome by a Representative of Vemares and transfer to the private house.
  • In the afternoon, Sunset in Havana Tour (Group Tour)
  • 5:00pm Pick up at the hotel with air-conditioned vehicle. Bilingual guide service. Visit to the historic center of Old Havana, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1982. Walking tour through the 4 Places: Plaza San Francisco de Asís, Plaza de Armas, Plaza de la Catedral and Plaza Vieja, during the same Appreciates the splendor of Havana in colonial times.

    • Plaza de la Catedral (Cathedral Square), dominated by the Baroque facade of the Cathedral of Havana.
    • Plaza de Armas, where you will find Palacio de losCapitanesGenerales, the house of the Spanish governors in the colonial era.
    • Plaza de San Francisco de Asis, a paved space with fluttering pigeons, framed by historic buildings such as the Convent and the Church of St. Francis of Assis, in which the tower was for centuries the highest point in the Villa.
    • Plaza Vieja, originally known as Plaza Nueva. It was first used for military exercises, then became an open-air market, and it is now dotted with restaurants, cafes, bars and brasseries.
  • Transfer to the Fort of San Carlos de la Cabaña where you can enjoy the Ceremony of the Cannonball at 9.00 pm.
    The City of Havana was founded in 1514 by Spanish conquistador Diego Velázquez. Its historic center was declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco in 1982Here you will see the recreation of the traditional 9:00 PM cannon shot ceremony, used in the colonial times as a sign for approaching vessels that a chain closed the entrance of the bay for the night, and that the city wall gates were also closed to protect Havana from pirate attacks.

Dinner included at a restaurant in Old Havana.


Following Hemingway’s footsteps Tour (Group Tour)

  • 9:30am. After breakfast, pick up at the private house.
  • Transfer to Ernest Hemingway Museum, “Finca Vigia” in San Francisco de Paula. This was Hemingway’s place of residence in Cuba from 1940 until his death in 1961. It is the first institution in the world created to honor him. Here is where he wrote his award winning novel, Nobel Prize for Literature, The Old Man and the Sea, the story of an aging Cuban fisherman. Here he also wrote much of For Whom the Bell Tolls and the Islands in the Stream. His presence can still be felt in this house where he lived 22 years of his life. You will see his famous yacht Pilar, in which he sailed around Cuba and the Caribbean.
  • After you will visit Cojimar, a small fishing village on the north coast about 4 miles east of Havana. This is the place where Hemingway used to dock Pilar. Here you will see a simple monument to the writer made with the bronze donated by the fishermen of the village.
  • Lunch at Terrazas de Cojimar where the writer used to eat, often in the company of the captain of his yacht and friend, Gregorio Fuentes.
  • Free afternoon.
  • Optional Night: (not included in the package). Tropicana Show.
    Pick up and return to the hotel lobby.
    Tropicana is a world-known Cabaret, the most spectacular of the cabarets to open sky. It’s a unique place to enjoy the music and the Cuban folklore in all their color, musicality and rhythm, an art extravaganza to multiply the Cuban happiness of a true tropical night. Marlon Brando, Ernest Hemingway, Rita Hayworth, and J.F.K., to name a few, frequently visited this famous place. After the show the dancers engage with the audience members and invite them to the stage for dancing.

Viñales, the land of tobacco (Group Tour)

  • 7:45am Pick up at the hotel closest to the private house.
  • Departure to the Valley of Viñales, 120 miles from Havana. Viñales National Park has been declared a Natural Heritage Site. The area has very fertile lands, it’s where the famous Cuban tobacco is grown and harvested. Upon arriving, you will make a stop at the Los Jazmines observation point, where one can take in the impressive views of the natural environment.
  • Next, visit the Mural of Prehistory, painted by contemporary artists and farmers on the side of a “mogote,” the rock formation typical of this Valley–a wooded hill 120 meters high. Then visit La Cueva del Indio, a cave complex where you can see interesting geological formations and an underground gallery, with a stretch of subterraneous river that you will navigate on powerboats.
  • Lunch at the restaurant Paladar Campestre.
  • Visit to a tobacco factory, get to know their employees, learn about their lifestyle, work and about the process of the tobacco production in Cuba.
  • Return to Havana.

Return to US

  • After breakfast, Room check out and transfer to the airport for return flight to US.
